Good Conversations

I had the pleasant opportunity of chaperoning the Jr. High Youth Gathering at Concordia, St. Paul this past weekend. While Jr. High can be a challenge, and my group was all girls (yikes!), what a splendid time we had! The girls really liked their counselor and I got to catch up with camp friends, old college friends, some Wagners and Renee Lach, and most importantly, Seth and Emily Gehrke. I finally got to really get to know Emily and I've decided that Seth is a dearly fortunate guy. They work as a couple so well together and it was inspiring to see that happen for a good friend.

I was talking to my boss last night about a new schedule thing and he asked me for my preferred hours. I didn't answer right away so he thought maybe I didn't know what "preferred" meant and began to explain it. I busted out laughing, like the burst-out-laughter kind in the middle of his explanation. Now thoroughly confused, this man looks at me and goes, "Do I have something on my face?" I told him no, but my hesitation to answer his question was purely because I have no life really, and I schedule my other jobs and activities around this one. I was just hoping not to say it quite like that and sound like such a loser. So this guy (and this is the second time I've ever spoken to him) proceeds to high-five me and go, "Yeah, I have no life either. I just hang out with my dogs." Wasn't expecting that from the boss-man.

Quote for the day came this morning: Dad and I were outside and I was going to put gas in the skidloader. Dad had been trapsing around for awhile and was starting to feel the pain in his knee, but decides to walk with me to the skidloader to "help" me put the gas in. I told him I could do it without him and he looks at me and goes, "Well, I can't just stand here. When people just stand around, they have to stand around and look pretty, and I'm way too old to do that, so I might as well walk with you and work."

A fun visit!! :)

Baby Payton came to visit us this weekend. Ok, baby Payton and sistah Chonnie. :) Both are fun, but Payton is a wee bit cuter (of course). Payton is growing so so fast! She has the cutest little baby feet in the whole world!! She entered the double digit world of weight on Easter - weren't those the days!! Hehehehe... Payton got to meet Grandpa Martin today too - he's not really grandpa but he is the coolest "Grandpa figure" any kid could ask for.

Hmmm, what else..... I have an interview for a middle school position @ Sioux Falls Lutheran School on Tuesday. If I get that call I am going to need to better learn how to spell Souix. I"m not sure yet...:(

Favorite moment of the day:
We sat behind my second cousin Jordan in church this morning. He was being rather squirmy and so during communion he began poking his uncle Lee and and his aunt Heidi in the ear. While that was humorous enough, he was also cutting a molar at the time so the kid's finger was spending a great deal of time in his mouth. At one point, right after having his figure in his mouth, Jordan leans over and wet willies Lee. Hilarious!
